Fluxus

December 2023
The Fluxus exhibition, held during Ellis Bairstow's third year at the Glasgow School of Art and the second year of the GSA Gallery Society, was another milestone in his curatorial journey. The exhibition drew inspiration from the avant-garde Fluxus movement, known for its emphasis on artistic experimentation and the blurring of boundaries between different forms of art.

Ellis and his team curated a show that embraced the spirit of Fluxus by selecting works that responded to the movement in broad and varied ways. The exhibition maintained an inclusive approach, allowing submissions from artists working in all media, ensuring a diverse and expansive range of artistic expressions. This openness allowed artists to creatively interpret the Fluxus ethos, resulting in a dynamic and engaging exhibition.

The Fluxus show was a resounding success, attracting over 300 visitors during its five-day run at the New Glasgow Society gallery. This event not only highlighted Ellis' ability to curate thoughtful and relevant exhibitions but also showcased his commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment for emerging artists.
