About

Ellis Bairstow is a photographic artist based in Glasgow, Scotland, who specializes in documentary and street photography.  Ellis has recently completed a degree in Fine art Photography from the Glasgow School of Art. Ellis' creative practice goes beyond photography; he is also deeply involved in curation and the broader art scene. In his second year at GSA, he founded the GSA Gallery Society, which gave him the opportunity to develop his curatorial skills and create exhibition opportunities for his peers beyond the confines of the art school.

Ellis' artistic journey has been profoundly shaped by his early experiences of travel and exposure to different cultures. Having spent the first nine years of his life in Spain and continuing to travel frequently, Ellis has developed a sensitive and nuanced approach to photography. His passion for the medium began at the age of 14 when he received a hand-me-down 35mm camera. This early experience allowed him to explore and refine his unique photographic style independently, and his time at GSA has further honed his skills and artistic vision.

One of Ellis' standout works, titled Mother, earned a commendation at the Scottish Portrait Awards and has been exhibited at several venues across Scotland. This recognition highlights his potential and growing presence in the Scottish art scene.
